Olympians, both Leyland and Volvo, feature in this collection. Strathclyde's Olympian collection can really be split across at least four four generations, although further Volvo Olympians were purchased by First Glasgow and continued the VO series of fleetnumbers.

1. 1980 - 1983 saw 46 TL11 engined Leyland Olympians delivered with bodies by Alexander, Roe and ECW.
2. 1991 saw three Workington bodied Cummins engined Leyland Olympians delivered, allegedly as a sop from Volvo for initial problems with Citybuses AH7 - 101
3. 1993 and 52 Alexander low height bodied Cummins engined Leyland Olympians were delivered, many operating on services afflicted by the low railway bridge at Busby
4. 1996 and 30 Alexander bodied Volvo Olympians were delivered, the last new buses ordered by Strathclyde Buses before the company was bought by First Group.

As with other Strathclyde collections, I've labelled all the images under SBL to keep some form of numerical order throughout. However I'm know that at least three sets of legal lettering would have been carried during the period covered - GGPTE at the start (well just!), SBL and of course First Glasgow.I have included some of the long wheelbase Royale bodied VO's bought in by First in the "allover red" era, but will, for now, stop short of the First Willow livery - which may yet appear elsewhere from my slides, and certainly features in the several digital collections of Glasgow I've created.

These slides are taken on a variety of 100 and 200 ASA slide films and scanned with a Nikon Coolscan V ED film scanner.

Thanks for visiting - haste ye back.
