| A selection of my slides of Western's fleet in the 1990's taken around Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway, as well as on the Isles of Bute and Arran, and on the Cowal Peninsula. This collection runs from 1990 through to July 21st 1994, when Western Scottish Buses formally passed into the ownership of the Stagecoach Group. These include the arrival of the first new Dennis Darts for Western and a couple of Mercedes Benz 709D's for the Machars network plus ex Greater Manchester Leyland Atlanteans and Leyland Nationals from Northern and from British Airways. Plenty more traditional Western tackle as well, including Seddons, Leopards, Nationals and Fleetlines, including a fair number in more remote locations.
Further collections of scanned slides will continue the Western story from July 1994 onwards at some point, covering the intoduction of the Stagecoach livery and the acquistion of the Ayrshire Bus Owners (A1 Service) and AA Buses (Dodds, Ayr) plus the services of the Arran Transport Company. The Stagecoach A1 collection, running from January 1995 to July 1997, can be found below. These slides are taken on a variety of 100 and 200 ASA slide films and scanned with a Nikon Coolscan V ED film scanner. |
