| A smaller collection here, some scans of slides taken of Strathclyde's Volvo Citybuses taken through the 1980's and 1990's. Based around an underfloor engine and the successor to the Ailsa in the Volvo catalogue, the Citybus is a beefy powerful vehicle with a ride quality well matching anything of the 21st century. Strathclyde Buses are best associated with the batch of 95 Citybuses delivered in 1989, the last dozen or so still giving good service on Services 19 and 43 and I build this collection in September 1987. However there were also six delivered in 1983 - 1984, five with Alexander bodies which were easily confused from afar with similar bodied Ailsas, and AH1, which was delivered with a Marshall body.
As with other Strathclyde collections, I've labelled all the images under SBL to keep some form of numerical order throughout. However I'm know that at least three sets of legal lettering would have been carried during the period covered - GGPTE at the start (well just!), SBL and of course First Glasgow. These slides are taken on a variety of 100 and 200 ASA slide films and scanned with a Nikon Coolscan V ED film scanner. |
