| A selection of Northern Scottish Omnibuses slides scanned from the 1980's. It's very noticeable how different films treated the Northern yellow, with Agfa, Perutz and Boots film tending to turn the livery into a sand like shade, whilst some early Fuji films treated bright sunshine shots as a lemon colour. Latterly I standardised on Fuji 100ASA which has been my preferred 35mm slide film choice since other than in very low light. As a student in the 1980's, I tended to buy whatever was the best deal in film at the time. The new Coolscan scanner affords far more flexibility than existed with my now semi retired Epson Flatbed flatbed and Paint Shop Pro assists in polishing the finished article in some cases......but there's a limit to what can be achieved.
Included here are the final days of the Lodekkas, Fleetlines, Leopards and Fords galore, new Olympians, Tigers and Dennis's and the new liveries that crept into replace the standard yellow and cream. There is no particular methodology in selecting these slides. I've picked some because they are nice shots and others because they've struck a chord or rekindled a memory of something I'd forgotten about. These slides are taken on a variety of 100 and 200 ASA film and have been scanned with a Nikon Coolscan ED V film scanner. |
